Assessment Data and Results

Results of statewide achievement tests known as the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examinations (WKCE) may be viewed or downloaded from this site. The WKCE measures achievement in reading, language, mathematics, science, and social studies using multiple-choice and short-answer questions. Students also provide a rough draft writing sample. The reading and mathematics tests are given annually to students in grades three through eight and ten while the language, science, social studies, and writting assessments are also given annually to students in grades four, eight, and ten. The WAA-SwD measures achievement in reading and mathematics for grades 3-8 and 10 and science in 4, 8, and 10. Language Arts/writing and social studies are assessed through a teacher rater form and reported with scores from the WAA-SwD.

Results are available in the formats described below:

  • WISEdash
data portal that uses "dashboards," or visual collections of graphs and tables, to provide multi-year education data about Wisconsin schools.
  • Multi-Dimensional Analytic Tool (MDAT)
The first secured reporting tool of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s Longitudinal Data System (LDS) Project, MDAT allows authorized users to examine one-year change in WKCE scale scores. Users may evaluate WKCE data from their district or school by selecting from a wide variety of variables and filters to narrow results down to a specific group. Those results can then be compared to district and/or state results for the same group. Authorized users may also drill down to student level data and download summary and student-level results.
  • Wisconsin School District Performance Report (SDPR) -
SDPR allows you to compare a district to other school districts in the same athletic conference with just one click. The contents of the School Performance Report are organized into two broad categories: Student Performance Indicators and Opportunity-to-Learn Indicators. The tables display WKCE/WAA results for only Grade 3 Reading, and Grades 4, 8, 10 all tested subjects – Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The complete results of statewide testing is displayed in the SPR report application above in tables disaggregated by subgroup as well as on WINNS in graphic format. Links to information about the SPR contents and data sources are found on page:
